Okay, the Indian education system has produced half the CEOs in Silicon Valley, for starters. So I admire it. Having worked in the coutry, it seems to instil a genuine understanding of the value of education, as a key to opportunity. Ours doesn't. Why not?

Our education system used to be admired globally, indeed, it's basic structure form 50 years ago is ruthlessly copied with great results by foreigners - but social mobility is down, on the watch of a government who's stated raisin d'etre is to improve the lot of the workers. How did they fail so spectacularly?
