In case people hadn't noticed, the UK recently had a rather high profile American visitor to our shores. He's inexplicably popular in certain quarters, despite demonstrably having lied in order to make political points and having issued one-sided propaganda designed to prop up highly debatable standpoints. He sees nothing wrong in publically lambasting and ridiculing people who have shown him nothing but kindness, honesty, and generosity in order to progress his own agenda. He affects to be a man of the people, whilst manipulating the media through personal contacts and pocketing large amounts of cash. However, after carrying out a certain amount of rabble rousing he's now gone, and good riddance.

All of this is a shame, as I used to be quite a big fan of Michael Moore.
TV Nation was a programme of subversive genius, and The Horrible Truth nearly matched it. Sadly since then he's descended into the political demogoguery he affects to despise, with Bowling for Columbine taking potshots are easy targets who won't hit back, and Stupid White Men containing demonstrable untruths from him (when challenged about these, Apparently Michael acknowledged he knew they weren't true when he wrote it but that they 'illustrated wider points'. Nice to see that the straight talking man of the people feels that lying to his audience is a valid way of making political points. One wonders what he would make out of someone like, you know, a politican doing the same thing).

Shame, but as seems to happen so often, he has simply become a mirror to that which he claims to be fighting.
Couple this with Denis Leary quitting smoking and cutting down his meat eating and Bill Hicks dead, it looks now like I'll have to find myself a new comedy hero.

I loved the Ficus 2000 campaign.

He still has his flashes, but he's playing to the gallery these days and making good money doing it. Not that he'd ever be prepared to admit it.

I preferred the message he gave to the production staff on TV Nation, when he told everyone on the show that realistically they'd never work again if they did it, and then they did it anyway.

I've liked a lot of what he did, and Bowling for Columbine did strike some keys ... was just a little OTT and propaganda-like (since it was, essentially, propaganda). Not seen anything of his recently mind

There are several in Stupid White Men, apparently; in the section on ineffciency in government contracts and the silly sums of money spent on fripperies. He's admitted to making up the numbers.
