2) Because it amuses me to do so. He's a character I can easily slip into to play and if you ask me, Eowyn passed up on a winner.
3) Tough question. Very Tough. My favourites are by no means the best, by any stretch of the imagination. I don't know, is the answer - perhaps becauser writers are so much easier to quantify as a body of work once they're dead. I'll think about this and may come back to it.
