[Roleplaying] [Cam] So much for art imitating life

In the World of Darkness, the ST chain rules that some things are just impossible to get hold of.

Whilst here in the real world, you can buy them on eBay

You can buy military stuff fairly easily... bombers are a little harder, but hey, it's worth the effort :)

Hey you can usually find tanks for sale in the back of land rover magazines.

I had a player in TT point this out to me.

Exactly. Essential purchasing for any Brujah.

And it doesn't work, and would require a great deal of money to get working again. IIRC, there are no flying vulcans at the moment. There's one that's close, and a couple which are kept in ground order - the engines work, but they aren't certified to fly.

Sadly no :( I think the last one that was flying is now grounded; a great shame as they're beautiful aircraft.

[identity profile] davywavy.livejournal.com 2004-11-10 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
By my investigations there are two which are 'flight capable'; one in Birmingham and one of the south coast. They aren't flown because they haven't got certification (and possibly because nobody has the bottle any more), not because they can't.
Not that I looked into this rather seriously, you understand :)

If you ever see a Fokker D-VIII for sale on Ebay please let me know.

And the same goes for a Vostok 2, oh anonymous one :)

Why a Vostok 2, specifically? Hmmm?

You must be loving my anonymous state - it means I have to read your journal properly to see if you reply:)

I have been pointing this sort of stuff to refs for years, especially when they insist on demanding X local influence, Y nationaln influence and Z contacts/scrounge/resources to get things that appear all over eBay.

[identity profile] sherbetsaucers.livejournal.com 2004-11-10 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
OK, I better stick up for the Refs...

1. Buying it off E-Bay means it is very tracable, by everyone. Ever.

2. It's 7m. That's a lot of cash.

3. It's a bitch to fuel and, indeed, fly.

1) And if I do't care about being traced?
2) What's that? Thanks to dominate you'll let me pay by instalment? Thanks!
3) Avgas isn't seriously hard to get hold of, and I only need a pilot one way :)

[identity profile] sherbetsaucers.livejournal.com 2004-11-10 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
1) The Sts owens you.
2) Over e-mail? Bloody impressive. Also I assume at that kind of price there will be some kind of background check.
3) I thought the fule was pricy. I'll let you off on the one way bit though.

Wonder if i can persuade the STs...
