Season of goodwill [2]

This Saturday is that rather odd celebration of all things festive, Santacon. In case you haven't come across it, Santacon largely involves hundreds, if not thousands, of people dressing as Santa and cavorting around central London, being merry, getting merrier, and liberally dispensing seasonal cheer and goodwill in a slighly surreal hohoho-ing sort of way. The sight of so many Santas in one place has been known to make small children go into a frenzy of expecation - either that or start crying, it's difficult to tell the different when they're that young.

But as I sat last night with a glass of something relaxing in my hand, I got to thinking - why just Santacon? Why not have other mass dressing-up events during the year? The subject would have to be be instantly recognisable and flamboyant in their dress, and so the idea struck me: Pimpcon.
I can see it now. Hundreds of people dressed in floppy hats, purple corduroy suits, stackboots and canes swaggering through the city giving a mass display of cool of the like unseen since Starsky and Hutch was cancelled.

Personally I think it would be hilarious, but experience teaches me that just because I find something funny it doesn't mean that anyone else will. However, I have a suspicion that a 'Pimpcon' group on Facebook would be a very popular addition.
