...is to write a protest song. Usually featuring a harmonica.

There's an old saying that if you have a problem you should sleep on it. As it turns out, that's good advice, because modern neurology tells us that the brain continues to work on problems whilst you're not thinking about them or even when you're asleep and only tells you about it when it thinks it's found a solution.
Your brain is clever like that.

I'm sure most people have experienced that sensation, halfway between wakefulness and sleep, when your brain appears to be really creative and throwing out ideas - this is really the only time most of us are aware of this subconscious process. It's called Hynogogia, and that mental state is well known as a creative driver. Kekule inferred the structure of the benzine ring during a hypnogogic state, for example, and Dali actively pursued it for the imagery in his paintings.

Anyway, after all this preamble, I might have mentioned my next door's baby and it's enthusiastic crying at all hours of day and night which it uses to awaken me at 3am.

I'm not sure if this is really funny or rather disturbing. Possibly both.

(To the tune of "The times they are a-changin'.)

(Moderato)

Come gather round people, and hear the child bawl
Till I punch its little head clean through the wall
To the great satisfaction of one and of all
For our patience, it has been wanin’
No quarter we’ll give, though it’s puny and small
For the times, they are a-changin’.

(Harmonica obbligato)

That baby’s demise I can gladly predict
As blow after blow on its corpse I inflict
Then out through the window the carcase gets kicked
It’s society that we are blamin’
After all that we’ve been through, no court would convict
And the times, they are a-changin’.

(Harmonica)

For the day’s coming round when we shake off our chains
And the blood of the baby runs red from its veins
And we won’t give a damn if the neighbour complains
For our tempers, they have been frayin’
Then we’ll jump up and down on its mangled remains
For the times, they are a-changin’.
