Leicester traffic wardens are today celebrating their 'biggest ever bust' after slapping Richard III, King of England, with a £13,774,659 fine for overstaying in a car park by more than 500 years. Although Richard is both disabled and dead, council officials have said that he did not have a blue badge and so would be liable for the fine.
"Just because he's King, disabled and dead does not mean he is above the law", said Barry Morgan, head of traffic enforcement at the Council. "If we start making exceptions on technicalities there's no telling where it will end."
In the meantime, archaeologists working on the supposed location of Boudica's defeat by the Romans at High Cross in Leicestershire have announced the discovery of an almost complete iron age chariot with a wheel clamp attached.
