True, but they also have equity (or they do until the housing market crashes, anyway). I'm not sure "You cannot establish security on unsecured borrowed money." scans as well though :)

I think the difference is the equity.

But the concept is still the same. You can't borrow money to become short-term more financially sound. However, putting borrowed money to good and responsible use can lead to security in the long-term.

Or in other words, don't rely on borrowed money to shore things up, because it's not a permanent solution.
