I think it was Wolfowitz who said that the reason the WMD issue was pushed to the fore was it was the main thing coalition politicians could agree on. Unfortunately for Mr Blur, he made it his causus belli, and suggested Iraq was an immediate threat, when it wasn't. He should have been smart, and told the truth. Bringing Iraq back into the international community under Saddam would be a big mistake and the remnants of his WMD programme would have been resurrected and that would have represented a threat to the region and a kind of defeat for America. It's kinda ironic that after winning a war, his political gamble is starting to wrong. Personally I'm not going to weep buckets for a government that relies so heavily on spin, but isn't being oily lying little shit the perfect candidate for a successful politician?
