Equal opportunity hatred.
Some time ago, my wide ranging reading brought to my attention a phenomenon which hadn’t previously occurred to me – that of White Supremacist computer games. I suppose that in the world of ‘Nude Raider’ and hacks that make all the female characters clothes fall off in ‘Dead or Alive: Extreme Beach Volleyball’ (how can Volleyball be extreme? Unless that’s the name of the beach), it is inevitable that some people will turn their hands to products that are considerably less savoury: one hack of ‘Return to Castle Wolfenstein’ apparently involves being a concentration camp guard.
Still, in the name of enquiry, I hunted out and got my hands on a copy of “Ethnic Cleansing”, a laugh-a-minute game in which you are the last white man alive in a USA overrun by Blacks, Hispanics and Jews, and you have to…well, I suppose you can guess the rest.
You might be surprised to learn that it isn’t as bad as you might expect.
You won’t be surprised to learn that it is in fact much, much worse than you might expect.
In the days of technical masterpieces like Unreal Tournament 2003 and Doom 3, if the best that the White Supremacist movement can come up with is ‘Ethnic Cleansing’ then it isn’t surprising they don’t recruit that many people. Politics aside, it is technically unplayable; the graphics are sub-Doom in quality, and the gameplay is nonexistent. If the American Nazi party is hoping me to sign up to fight the international Zionist conspiracy of the back of this, then they really have another think coming.
This brings me on to the true purpose of this post – that of supremacist movements of any stripe, be they the Klan, The Nation of Islam, Al-Queda, or the Legislature of the State of Tennessee (who passed a motion decreeing that it should be taught in their schools that modern American civilisation is superior to any other civilisation ever produced by humanity. In Tennessee of all places. I ask you). They are all embodiments of that same old human whine: “My life hasn’t turned out the way I wanted, and it’s everyone’s fault but my own”. If you look at their claims – “The Black man is stealing our jobs and women!” “The White man is holding us back!” “The USA is the Great Satan!” – and so on, it quickly becomes plain that anything that is wrong is everybody else’s fault, and that none of them really seem willing to accept responsibility for their own lives, preferring instead to make others’ miserable.
Sadly, supremacists of any denomination seem highly unwilling to look closer to home for the true root cause of many of their problems: as Garth Ennis once succinctly summarised the problem “Why is that the greatest exponents of the White Race are its’ worst fucking examples!?” After all, if the white race was the master race, superior in every way to all the others, then how come others can steal their women away? It is instinctive that women will want to breed with the most successful male to be the father of her children – that’s simple evolution.
But then again, they don’t teach that in Tennessee, either.
I could go on. I often do.

From what I've seen of history, all extremist groups have to have an enemy to demonise. If you remember the great Bruce Forsyth saga - SWSS were looking very angry and blaming the whole event on White Males - as though being White and Male were sufficient conditions for being an ass.

Look at all the warm, lovely Freedom we've been able to spread around the world. Trying to stop Freedom is evil. Evil threatens our way of life. Anything that threatens our "Freedom" needs to be destroyed.
Hrm...I wonder if Tennessee is a threat to Freedom? It would be sad to lose all of those trailer parks, but at least it would cut down on the tornadoes...We'll look into it. Thank you for the warning. As a reward, you will be allowed to wath 5 extra hours of MTV this week.

Football matches are a prime example, when it's a Premier match (and I don't have any knowledge of players past 1996, so you'll have to forgive me) you'll get Liverpool players shouting the vilest, most disgusting and abusive things at David Beckham; of course, come a national match then he's the nation's hero.
