The league of plump, self-satisfied gentlemen

[livejournal.com profile] ukmonty is talking about setting up a semi-regular (perhaps quarterly) dining club in this place, if anyone might be interested...

I note the menu is very approriate to, say, [livejournal.com profile] riksowden (Pies 'n' Puddins galore).

1/ Which of the two restaurants - the London one, I assume?

2/ Gentlemen only?

[identity profile] nevecat.livejournal.com 2003-09-11 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, it's their estate that's marked on the map, not a separate restaurant, that'll teach me to scan-read - the estate is just a few miles up the road from where my parents live :)

Did someone say my name?

Looks...interesting...very...interesting Mr Wade...

Okay, i'm interested.

Pie you say?

I have to say the autumn menu and wine list does look very tempting.

There are some things in life I will never live down, it seems. Maybe they do whole blocks of the stuff?

Even discounting the lard on chips, the menu still looks very good.

Interesting discover outside of Barnsley one time...

'Vegetarian Lard' ... a whole block of it.

I dunno how they managed it, probably a trick with the packaging label.

lol.

It was probably just ...

[identity profile] ex-boog351.livejournal.com 2003-09-11 09:08 am (UTC)(link)
A block of finest lard, with a carrot sticking out ;-)

[identity profile] sherbetsaucers.livejournal.com 2003-09-11 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
It's something Id really like to do. As long as you don't mind a long haired lay about, this would be a great little incentive for me to get well and go see peopel and talk.

[identity profile] riksowden.livejournal.com 2003-09-11 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
Well they bally well have to let me in...and its a great excuse to dress up too...

I love dressing up, thats why i do LRP...

[identity profile] sherbetsaucers.livejournal.com 2003-09-11 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought you did LARP because kept loseing the dice.

[identity profile] riksowden.livejournal.com 2003-09-12 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
This too. Erm, no, its the high quality of Roleplay...yeah...

Luscious Yum-Yums!

[identity profile] applez.livejournal.com 2003-09-11 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
Awww...'a league of their own' perhaps, but one I could surely join in the piss-poor film rendering as the never-previously-mentioned Yanqui Gentleman. ;-)

Hm, considering the prices, hardly a place where I'd go regularly but for a one-off, certainly.

Do they have a dress code?

[identity profile] karohemd.livejournal.com 2003-09-11 10:36 am (UTC)(link)
And game is very tempting. You don't tend to get it regularly in these lands and I love it.

[identity profile] ukmonty.livejournal.com 2003-09-12 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Well considering we may well have a private room, I will err on the side of caustionand say Smart but conmfortable. he idea is to make it a bit of an event without people feel thiat its either 1. up its own ass or 2. intimidating

[identity profile] sesquipedality.livejournal.com 2003-09-11 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
They don't seem to believe in vegetarianism, but at those prices, it's probably just as well, really.

[identity profile] souldier-blue.livejournal.com 2003-09-12 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds interesting!

[identity profile] puddingcat.livejournal.com 2003-09-12 10:12 am (UTC)(link)
The game bit sounds ok, but I'ldput money on the fact that they use lard. Real, dictionary-definition lard.

Plus, there's the inherent contradiction in my principles - I'll eat game, but don't like people who shoot / stalk / fish etc, and the atmosphere in the restaurant would very probably upset me.

[identity profile] riksowden.livejournal.com 2004-03-11 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
is anything going to happen with this wonderful idea?
