Flying

Can anyone tell me what American Airlines are like?
My usual airlines of choice (BA and Vurgin) don't fly direct to St Louis and so I might have to fly with a lesser airline. Are they any good, or would the extra travel time on BA be rewarded with extra comfort & facilities?

We flew American airlines to St. Louis in January and they were great! Food was yum :D
The only problem we has was as it was the Week Of Much Snow, we were delayed by a day getting out of Heathrow as BA had taken up all the de-icing machines. So as long as it isn't snowing here, then it will be fine...
