I've mentioned the D-Plan diet ("Eat less food. Take more exercise. Duh") in these pages before now, and had a share of arguments about it's efficacy with some of you lot out there.
Talking about it with someone the other day, they observed that if they ate less food in terms of volume but instead all that they ate was deep-fried sugar-coated lard then they wouldn't lose weight would they, eh? Eh? So my diet is wrong, wrong, wong. So there.

I have to acknowledge that they are quite correct in this statement, and so I am renaming the D-Plan diet. It shall henceforth be called the 'Pedantry will make you fat' diet.

That is all. Move along now.

Presumably if one's head is lodged sufficiently deep in one's colon, it's difficult to shove food up there too.

I prefer to put my foot in my mouth. That prevents consumption too.

I'm not trying to proseletise but I've lost over 50lbs on a low-carb regime in the last year.

There was a very interesting programme about the Atkins diet on TV a while back, in which they rigourously tested the claims made for it's efficacy; the ideas like it boosts the metabolic rate to digest non-sugars and the like.
The claims that it works were upheld, but the reasons were not. The final conclusion was the Atkins works because it's a really effective way of getting people to eat fewer calories.

Yeah, I think I saw that program too, is that the one where they added fat to sugary deserts to test out their theories? Bearing in mind that low-carb diets completely eschew the use of refined sugar...

I have no idea whether I'm eating less calories or not; I eat a lot of protein, a lot of fat, a lot of veggies, but little sugar. My blood pressure has come down and I weigh a lot less. Whatever the reason, it works, or at least, works for me - without the usual hunger pangs or misery associated with a calorie-restricted diet.
