I bought some new shoes!

If I keep this up I'm going to turn into a girl.

A pleasant weekend; Gothika (the film) isn't anything like as bad as the trailer might suggest. Okay, it's risibly predictable and riven with plot holes, but it's shot very atmosphericly which makes up for a lot of sins. I'm not convinced that the US mental health service still locks it's loonies up in what look like Arkham Asylum, though. Hannibal Lecter had quite a nice cell in Silence of the Lambs compared to the stark and featureless greys that the inmates have in this one.
I admit that the film cunningly threw my expectations by having a British person in it who wasn't the villain (and I was sat there thinking "Gosh, what a shame King Theoden has turned out bad..."), Quite a subversive mood for Hollywood. A film to se if there's nothing else on that you'd like to see more, but not one to avoid, mind.

Doncaster Town Centre was filled with the local chavs and their modified cars - it appeared to be some sort of organised event for them. Most of the modified vehicles were actively risible with Meccano spoilers and crap alloy wheels, but some were really quite pretty and even artistic. Talent sometimes blossoms in the most unlikely of places. Doncaster being, let's face it, pretty unlikely.

Other than that? An evening of Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung films indicated that Drunken Master is probably the best Jackie Chan film I've seen for those 'laughing in sher disbelief that someone just did that' moments.

The parents are away for a week at the start of May. I might give myself a few days of holiday so I can come up here and have the rolling estates to myself.

Good Morning, everybody.

According to Halle Berry: "The title GOTHIKA was a play on the word and on what Gothic really means."

So that clears that up, then.
