Mortification, Asceticism, and just to see if I can.

As part of the grand david-becoming-buff plan, I've decided to have a go at giving up alcohol, tobacco, chocolate, and caffeine for the rest of this month. I managed alcohol and chocolate pretty well a few months ago, and so I'm interested to see how good my willpower really is.

The rule is as before: if I end up at a party I'm not going to sit there with a face like I'm sucking a lemon, leading refrains of Onward Christian Soldiers and handing out temperance leaflets. I will instead get royally trashed.
However, if anyone spots me puffing on my pipe with a glass of brandy in my hand at, say, a Cam event before July, they're cordially invited to blip me over the head and tell me just what a failure I am.

Yikes. I hope you eat lots of antioxidants and don't abuse your body too much.

My mother was the only person in my family, in living memory, to die of natural causes. The rest were seen off by Hitler or voluntarily opted out of the gene pool. There is a mildly amusing story out of this- which I may post on my own LJ so I'll shut up now.

And don't take up mining now, will you?

When I was at university, one of my favourite lines was: "My body isn't a temple, it's an amusement park. But if you don't take care of it, the risdes aren't as good."

Which counts as funny when you're 19 and plastered, I suppose.

I'm not trying to impress, well maybe a bit. I'm just trying to be the same colour all over. Different parts of my body seem have inherited different different aspects of my ethnic inheritance . And I have a morbid fear of getting wrinkles. So it's factor 40 and fake tan on the face, hands neck and cleavage, factor 25 and fake tan on arms and body, melanoma-in-a-bottle and yet more fake tan on the legs.
As for who I'm trying to impress - who knows? Unlikely I'll get lucky at the weekend in cardiff - Tig's birthday party will be all poofs and RPers .
