Twenty seven additional Dementors are to face tribunals following further accusations of prisoner abuse at Azkaban prison, Ministry of Magic officials announced today. Probes into the prison carried out by Albus Dumbledore had indicated that “a small number of Dementors” had been complicit in torture and soul-reaving activities “outside the remit of the Muggle convention.” The probe by Dumbledore revealed disturbing facts about the behaviour of Dementors who it appears were complicit in the deaths of several Death-Eater prisoners at the jail after their souls were sucked from their bodies and devoured.
The accusations came to light after the recent escape and death of Sirius Black, who was accused of being a senior figure in the Voldemort regime. Subsequent investigations have led to evidence of systematic abuse of prisoners at the jail being uncovered. "It is highly disturbing that dementors appear to have been actively encouraged to torture the prisoners under their guard," said Dumbledore. "The Dementors who guard Azkaban have a responsibility to treat their prisoners decently, and this responsibility is not being met."
Rumours continue to circulate that high-ranking members of the Ministry of Magic were aware of the activities of the Dementors and independent reports continue to suggest that Cornelius Fudge, Minister of Magic, and his Aide, Percy Weasley, had condoned the activities in the prison. These accusations have been angrily denied.
“The War on the Dark Arts is the true issue, and these accusations – against a very small minority – are detracting from this,” said an obviously agitated Mr. Fudge. “Although recent actions by the ministry have resulted in the toppling of Lord Voldemort, it is undeniable that many of his Death Eaters remain at large and remain a source of danger to peace loving wizards and witches everywhere.”
When questioned about suggestions that Alastors attached to the Ministry had been aware of Demontor abuses at the prison, Fudge insisted that Azkaban was necessary as “Death Eaters never stop trying to think of new ways to use the Dark Arts, and nor do we.”
Percy Weasley was seen to put his head in his hands at this statement.

Human rights protestor Remus Lupin argues that Fudge should be required to take full responsibility for Dementor actions, as they are directly employed by the Ministry. ""Dementors are among the foulest creatures that walk this earth," said Lupin. "They infest the darkest, filthiest places, they glory in decay and despair, they drain peace, hope, and happiness out of the air around them. They most certainly should not be allowed free rein in the treatment of prisoners, no matter what crimes those prisoners are accused of."
Lupin went on to add that ultimate responsibility for all actions taken by Ministry officals should be borne by Fudge. When questioned further about his own past, Lupin called the press conference to a hasty close.
Ministry sources were quick to comment. "Lupin is a well known Lycanthrope and probably eats babies on a regular basis, so it is unwise to place any credence in what he says," said Ministry of Magic Spokesman Gilderoy Lockhart. "He ought to be in Azkaban himself, to protect the public from his foul depredations. In fact if I weren't so busy, I'd go round and arrest him myself."

Events at Azkaban have cast a long shadow on what many commentators in the International community had seen as an ill-advised but ultimately successful campaign to remove Lord Voldemort, and have stirred up lingering resentment in people who might otherwise have been grateful to see He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named gone. A militia headed by Peter Pettigrew has attracted a large civilian contingent and clashes between ministry forces and the militia have grown in ferocity in recent days. Reports of use of the Avada Kedavra curse have been hotly denied by both sides, and it is only through the intervention of Lucius Malfoy - seen by most as a moderate Death-Eater - that a shaky peace is being held.
Gilderoy Lockhart has been quick to cast doubt on reports of trouble, instead suggesting that reporters just forget about any diffic-.

In other news, attempts by Cornelius Fudge to claim credit for the success of the Death Eater Quidditch team at the Olympics have been angrily rejected by members of the team. “If I wasn’t here playing Quidditch, I would be at home with my wand casting Death Charms and Curses against the infidel Fudge.” Said one member of the team.

For someone doing reasonably well for himself in an expensive city, you have far far FAR too much free time on your hands!

Work that brain, work it baby yeah.

You're running ToJ Vampire, Orient Express (already written?), and that Victorian space thing with Ming the Merciless, right? Pre-gens for vampire will be easy, use Robin's random character generator and give them to someone like Kath to do backgrounds for (in return for something nice), put Queen's "Flash!" on very loud and sing alomng substituting your name for "Flash", and see what inspiration follows.

If any.

Orient express is already written, yes, characters for saturday night are being updated by tracey (same characters year-on-year, m'dear) (or they'd better be), it's Mars or bust which is giving me real trouble. I *know* what's going on, but writing the bastard thing? Bloody hell.
