Oh, all right.

The new year is coming up. This is traditionally a time where people try and better themselves, and ensure that they live better next year. With this in mind, I'd like to ask you to give me a piece of advice that is specific to me and my life, which you think will help me over the following year. What resolution/s should I make?

Come on, then.

Take up colouring as a hobby. Some crayons and a patterned pad. Very therapeutic :)

I've always had difficulty staying inside the lines, one way or another.

Invest only in ethically- and morally-sound companies.

[identity profile] davywavy.livejournal.com 2004-12-17 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Current investments:

Biotech:
1) Diabetes research and medications
Tech:
1) On-demand Software streaming technologies
2) Online payment security companies (x2)
3) Fuel cell research

Any problems there?

[identity profile] davedevil.livejournal.com 2004-12-17 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Good god no! I'ld end up lookign like Prescott, you know one of the proper socialists instead of the middle class liberals like what I is ;)

[identity profile] davywavy.livejournal.com 2004-12-17 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)

Top quote from Wanted (Mark Millar comic book series. v.good. DCU gone bad basically).

"You say Fascist like its a bad thing. But how many women do you think fantasize about being kidnapped and raped by a liberal?"

Sweet.

I think it may have been PJ O'Rourke who said that first, and I think Germaine Greer may have said it too.

I doubt you'll get that bunch agreeing on much, it has to be said.

[identity profile] flywingedmonkey.livejournal.com 2004-12-17 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
As they guy who says it in the comic is an evil, nazi skinhead supervillian I'm inclined to agree.

Just maybe

[identity profile] davywavy.livejournal.com 2004-12-17 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I have to wonder how many women fantasise abotu being kidnapped and raped by Boris Johnson.

Oh, I dunno. In my student days, I associated with entirely too many communists. And as far as I can tell, the main attraction to communism for young student lads is the prospect of sleeping with a woman in overalls with a shaven head and all her original body hair who is nevertheless heterosexual. COMMUNISM IS CAUSED BY LESBIAN FETISHISTS.

empty your mind (tell a friend you are doing this first) then everything will be ok :p

Emptying my mind is like trying to empty the Pacific ocean with a coffee mug.

Educate yourself on the difference between people using ideology as a front in order to be the usual cunts that humans are to each other regardless or in spite of ideology, and the ideology itself.

I rather think you missed the point of his previous post. He's well aware of this.

Don't waste your time arguing with Grim. His satire-related blind spot is nigh-American in it's proportions.

Due to him not being present, I considered argument a near acceptable alternative to the biff in the mazzard his 'argument' truly mandates.

He asked for opinion, he got it.
This wasn't related to any post here but rather my experience of Dave over a reasonable period and observation of his interactions with others. There does seem to be a weakness in his arguments of equating the actions of people professing to adhere to an ideology with the goals or meaning of the ideology itself. Something I find as grating as trying to point out certain passages in the new testament to raving hate-filled fanatacist christians and having them look at you like a dog that's been shown a card trick.

In general I find Dave to be an affable enough, mildly amusing right-wing eccentric. The sort of Anti-Tony-Benn.

Quite how answering someone's open post honestly warrants this sort of wankerish reaction is a puzzle.

Oh no, it knows the 'post three weeks later to get the last word' trick too. Clever Monkey.
