Hen Nights
Sep. 6th, 2005 01:15 pmA friend of mine is getting married in a few weeks and this weekend just gone she had her Hen Party.
Now I know that ritual humiliation of the soon-to-be-wed is de rigeur for stag and hen parties - which is why, when I marry (pfffft), I shall carry out the process in strict secrecy and not tell anyone about it for several years (especially my other wives) - but one story I've heard from this hen party struck me as particularly baffling.
One part of the evening was that all the other girls present were supposed to bring articles of clothing for the Hen to wear, leading to all kinds of comical hat-and-clothing tomfoolery.
Why this particular ritual should have taken place I can't imagine. I can only assume that it was a form of adult Buckaroo in which these clothes were draped over the recipient until eventually she leapt towards the ceiling with a loud sproing noise.
Girls. They're odd creatures. I'll never understand them.
