I hadn't really given it much thought, tbh. Looking at their website, it appears that white poppies are 'for peace', so presumably by extension of that logic red ones are for enthusiastic, gung-ho promotion of jolly warfare in all it's highly enjoyable forms. Seems to me that it's just another sympton of the moral one-upmanship which is so popular in contemporary society "I wear a white poppy for peace, and by extension am thus morally superior to you red poppy wearers, so ner" Like so many things, it's a quick and easy way for people to demonstrate their moral superiority and moral high ground whilst actually doing very little indeed.
