Fighting invisible Ninjas

Well, it's been a week o' luxury for me and no mistake. First up was a few days taking both my ease within and potshots at the peasantry from the battlements of this place:


Which proved a convivial location for both astounding amounts of booze, tales of elder horror from beyond, and watching a firework display over the bay from the roof.
And then, with nary time for my feet to touch the ground, it was off to stay at the Lowry hotel which despite being 'manchester's first five star hotel' was much less nice. I can't recommend it - it's like someone build a warehouse and then stuck a hotel in it. Moreover, it's very much an exercise in penny-pinching and ticking boxes to get the five stars: "What do we need to get a five star rating? A spa? Tick! Do we need to put tea and coffee in the rooms? No? Then we shan't bother. We'll charge a fiver a go on room service instead. Ker-ching!"
I shan't go back there - the room was big but soulless, the service okay and the hotel has all the charm of a new office block. Moreover, as the hotel is 'Manchester's best', it's full of blinged up chavs thinking they've made it. Next time in town, I'll go back to the Midland.

That said, I did get to hang out with chums, go dancing, and injure myself on the dancefloor yet again so the weekend wasn't a loss.
