Test your might.
Jan. 31st, 2007 11:02 amI'm starting to think that I'm injury prone.
Due to all the cakes which I stuff down my throat, I have to go to the gym a lot in order to avoid becoming porky pretty much instantly. I tend to vary my exercises - weights, running, swimming, pretending to be a ninja - which means that I never really get to be indestructably butch* but I don't get bored either.
Back in November, Ninja Master went on holiday so I started to do more running to make up. After a week or so of this, my knee went.
"Never mind!" I thought. "I'll just stick to the weights until I'm better."
After a couple of weeks of that I picked up a shoulder strain.
"Never mind!" I thought. "My knee is better so I can start running again!"
I bet you can see where this is going. After a week or so of that, my foot went with Planar Fasciitis, which is jolly painful, thanks for asking.
"Never mind!" I thought. "I'll stick to swimming until my shoulder and foot are better!"
So I set out to swim a couple of miles three or four times a week.
Little did I know just how much this would cause the muscles in my back to lock up which is, once again, quite astonishingly painful - and three months after he went on holiday, I'm still not back at Ninja High. I wonder what part of me I'll break next?
Ehh, am I getting old, or what?
*Despite years of ninja-ing, I still can't do either the death touch or the helicopter kick, never mind at the same time.

Date: 2007-02-05 09:14 am (UTC)If your injuries are mostly muscular it's just the usual problem of the proper fluids not getting in to allow stretching and relaxing. I'm sure you drink plenty of water but you need black or green teas (for the anti-oxidents) on a regular basis. If its joint problems really cut down on salt, alcohol, fruit acids and red meat. After all you know what happens if you put derv in a petrol engine.
And what sort of cakes? Shop bought in packets are all rubbish. Go to a good local baker or make your own, otherwise you've more to worry about from additives than from calories.
