I'm starting to think that I'm injury prone.

Due to all the cakes which I stuff down my throat, I have to go to the gym a lot in order to avoid becoming porky pretty much instantly. I tend to vary my exercises - weights, running, swimming, pretending to be a ninja - which means that I never really get to be indestructably butch* but I don't get bored either.
Back in November, Ninja Master went on holiday so I started to do more running to make up. After a week or so of this, my knee went.
"Never mind!" I thought. "I'll just stick to the weights until I'm better."
After a couple of weeks of that I picked up a shoulder strain.
"Never mind!" I thought. "My knee is better so I can start running again!"
I bet you can see where this is going. After a week or so of that, my foot went with Planar Fasciitis, which is jolly painful, thanks for asking.
"Never mind!" I thought. "I'll stick to swimming until my shoulder and foot are better!"
So I set out to swim a couple of miles three or four times a week.
Little did I know just how much this would cause the muscles in my back to lock up which is, once again, quite astonishingly painful - and three months after he went on holiday, I'm still not back at Ninja High. I wonder what part of me I'll break next?

Ehh, am I getting old, or what?

*Despite years of ninja-ing, I still can't do either the death touch or the helicopter kick, never mind at the same time.

Are you doing your warm up and warm down exercises? Strecthes?

Maybe you're doing too much try and get a personal trainer most gyms have one you can borrow.

Explain whats been going on and i'm sure they'll help.

Or was it a guess thing as to what part you'll injure next? Erm if so I guess for.....Hamstring

Don't talk crap you aint old, just need to take it slow with the exercise util your fitness level improves it's not just about exercise. You have to eat the right things too.

Exercise will only do so much and it needs the right things in your body to work with if it doens't have them its likely to use the wrong things.

My brothers pysio has told him he's putting her kids through University...

He still injures himself every 2-3 weeks (when he's training and not injured) - on the plus side last time he was off training he lost over a stone...

I knew a guy at Uni who did Muay Thai, and his regime was: train for a month, fight, recover for a month, train, fight, recover...
He was outrageously fit, but the recovery time he needed was huge.

I used to train with these guys, which is about as violent as I ever got. Full contact, but at least you wear the armour to proect yourself.

Kick-boxing, having a very competitive streak and being, as my housemate described us both, "aggressively clumsy".

She was talking about us trying to be careful when drunk like...

Woah, so we're looking at Michael Winner??

That is old! I'd give up on active exercise and head for the toning tables.

You are old. At least, in terms of picking up the odd ache and pain from exercise, yes you are.

I'm forever picking up little twinges or strains, and I think it's a post 30 thing. Doesn't really have much link with overall fitness I don't think.

You're definitly not as old as me and so, as I steadfastly refuse to be old, you simply can't be.
If your injuries are mostly muscular it's just the usual problem of the proper fluids not getting in to allow stretching and relaxing. I'm sure you drink plenty of water but you need black or green teas (for the anti-oxidents) on a regular basis. If its joint problems really cut down on salt, alcohol, fruit acids and red meat. After all you know what happens if you put derv in a petrol engine.
And what sort of cakes? Shop bought in packets are all rubbish. Go to a good local baker or make your own, otherwise you've more to worry about from additives than from calories.
