"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds,"

That's in the United States, obviously. If you work in Stevenage, you sit on your fat arse in the sorting office, claiming that you can't do your rounds due to the 1/2 inch of snow on the ground and 'health and safety'.

You have a very high opinion of my land's postmen then.

Remind me to send you a photo of the sleeping postman in my neighbourhood sometime - and a catalogue of his misdelivery rate.

I think you'll find they also waste a fortune whining about being 'bullied' when asked to do their jobs properly.

Apparently Tesco vans are also completely unable to drive if it's a bit snowy.

...and also Tesco apparently have the inability to store your order and reschedule it. So actually you have to redo the whole bloody thing and then find you can't get it delivered until Monday.

on friday I asked our postal carrier at work if he was doing alright in the cold (since it was about -10 fairenheit) and he said he was just fine - he had one of the cushy routes with a truck.

Also, due to "health and safety" you should not hold a ladder for another person "in case they fall off and sue you for not holding it properly"
