It's because he's such a well-fed(and smug)-looking tiger. He's clearly been eating small children.

Actually, the small child in question was terrified I might devour her cuddly toy ("You can't eat Toto! You can't!"), but it turned out I was a friendly tiger who preferred jelly beans and being stroked, so that was all right.

You have to teach small children that stroking tigers is a good idea when they're young - it's a valuable lesson for the next time they get taken to the zoo.
