When Charlotte Bronte visited North Lees Hall (ancestral home of the Eyre family) in 1845 she was told a chilling tale of an ancestor who had gone mad and burned to death in a fire. As she listened, a lightbulb went on over her head and so it was that in one feel swoop, not only was the lightbulb invented but also that the completely cuckoo Mrs Rochester and her environment were created too.

North Lees Hall is a rather pimp crib and more importantly is available for hire, so that's where I've been hanging out lately:

It comes with everything you could require for a civilised few days in the country - a hamper of nosh when you arrive, a big pile of firewood for burning during the evening as the wind and rain howl around the battlements and a lockable attic room for stowing any any crazed womenfolk you happen to have brought with you. Overall, it might have inspired Charlotte to write an enduring classic of British Literature, but all it managed to inspire me to was eating and drinking more than I ought and then a long lie-in or two.

So what have you lot been up to lately?

Looks lovely - how much does a place like that cost to hire (and how many does it sleep), or would it be too cheeky to ask?

Possibly, but we'd have to hire both flats which might be a tad pricey.

Due to sacking my old accountant, and getting a better one, I expect to be significantly better off.

That's your social life neatly summarised, isn't it?

That should be fine, but I will need at least a character name (concept too, if possible) from you by midweek.

FYI: I'm trying to get this game written and as such I'll need at least a character name & concept from you by this afternoon or I won't be able to write you in.

For that, you really need to check out Treowen Manor. Sleeps 24 people, some in 4 poster beds, and is perfect for an LRP weekend (and is cheap as chips for those numbers). They used it for the internal shots for the Queen Victoria and werewolves Dr. Who episode and it is seriously atmospheric. I was last to bed at a wedding and creeping up those stairs in pitch black at 4 am was one hell of an experience.

Using the Dr Who versus the Werewolves episode as a selling point makes your job harder, not easier!

Well I'm off to the Trossachs next week, to stay in one of Mummy & Daddy's castles...
