...but does anyone else ever have that experience where you're talking to someone you agree with, but they're such a bozo you wish you thought something different as it feels like their agreement devalues your beliefs?

I have found life to be much easier if I embrace wholeheartedly the premise that every human being on the planet is a moron until they demonstrate otherwise. Any ideology is therefore capable of being co-opted by morons just as much as (in your case) smart but sadly deluded people.

I am blessed in being the only person who can see clearly. It is a heavy burden, but I bear it with equanimity.
