I noticed in the paper this morning that a group of 400 feminists dressed as suffragettes demonstrated outside parliament yesterday to demand equal rights.

You've got to respect them. In fact I'd take my hat off to them, but apparently they hate that.

The only picture I've seen which is actually you in a hat makes you look like a Nazi war criminal.

Equality and fairness generally mean 'other people's money' when voiced like this.

They could just take their hats off to you, too

They were after a special fair type of equality, which is completely different from what you might mean were you to use the word.

Tipping hats, holding doors -- talk about a straw man!

You don't have to tip a hat, hold a door, carry a package or anything of that sort for a woman. She doesn't need you to do that. If you do it, though, women are intelligent enough to see it for what it is -- a polite gesture. A polite woman will say, 'thank you', in recognition that the gesture was intended not as an insult to the woman's abilities but as a polite gesture.

I've held doors for men and had them say 'thank you' to me. I always thank a man who holds a door for me, whether I need it at that moment or not.

Hasn't this been settled decades ago? Isn't it time to focus on the issues the women were raising instead?

But why let a serious issue get in the way of an opportunity for David to make a joke?
