So here it is, Merry Christmas.
Dec. 22nd, 2002 10:21 pmThe Annual Wade Xmas party last night, attended this year by, amongst others,
zenmeisterin,
karohemd, and
andrewdavies, plus a great many non-Lj people, including Monty, Colin, and the former British Ambassador to Portugal (no, I'm not kidding about this).
Quite naturally, we welcomed Ian of the Foreign Office with a pile of Ferrero Rocher and the intimation that we were really spoiling him, and he responded with a tired smile, as if he'd heard that joke before.
As usual with any party that
andrewdavies & I attend, we had an argument and I can't remember for the life of me what it was about in the morning...
All in all a good evening. Mulled wine, Champagne, port, cigars, a roaring fire in the grate, pine branches and carols about the piano. I was fortunate that my office Xmas party was on the Friday before, as I got to steal 15 bags of chocolates whilst my colleagues were dancing, thus supplying much of the food for my party for free.
Did many things, sang songs, yarned to Pollyanna about TTT, toasted the Queen, insulted my brother, and finally flaked out at about 4am after teaching
puddingcat the reverse Labouchere Roulette method by using mince pies and flipping a coin.
Woke up about 10am to find Jenny asleep beneath Monty on the settee, which was an eye opener to say the least. I don't know what sort of girlfriend she thinks she us, but I got a free weekend pass out of her for the next time I go to the USA on the basis of that.
Spent the rest of today refuelling, sleeping, and reading in the post-party 'God, i'm fucked' mental state that you get when you hit 30 and stay up past your bedtime.
