davywavy"Can I renew this, please", I said, passing my travelcard through the window.
The station attendant tapped a few keys in an uninterested way and then picked up my photocard, looked at it, did a double-take, and looked at it again. He waved it at me. "Is this your name?"
Now, that's not a question you want to be asked by a petty functionary, but still. "Yeah?", I said. "Why?"
"Because in my country, in Africa, that is the name of our president!" He beamed at me.
"Oh, I know", I said, pointing at myself. "He's my brother, can't you tell?"
I never knew it was possible to make someone laugh so hard that I'd miss my train.
