It's Christmas, and not one of those heathen festivals that have been co-opted by unbelievers who feel left out because someone else had a better idea for a festival and a bigger marketing budget than them.

Just thought I'd get that off my chest.

And with that in mind, may I wish each & every one of you a Very Merry Christmas & Happy new Year, and may many of your favourite wishes come true (not all of them, as having no wishes would be akin to death). God Bless.

So what did I get?

Well, Pricey Liquor (always a good start for things to give me, it will endear you to me very quickly), and books, obviously. Lots of books. History, mainly, either histories of Science or Mediaeval Japan, both of which fascinate me, although Simon Schamas history of Britain was a good addition, and Schotts Miscellany will allow me to be yet more pretentious, and will therefore bring suffering and woe to the serried masses (always a good thing).
Chocolate (burp). And Towels. Two of them.
Towels?
You tell me.
An 'A-Team' DVD, whcih I will watch as soon as I acquire a DVD player.
Oh, and two copies of Mendelsohns 'Songs without words'. That'll teach me to tell someone that I like them.

What did you lot get? Do tell...reply and tell me your exciting gifts!

Back to London on Saturday. My New Years resolutions will be the usuals:
1) Show no tolerance to those less fortunate than myself
2) Redefine morality to suit my own short-term objectives.
3) Conquer the Earth & make its inhabitants my slaves.

I look forward to the third resolution being enacted then.

Well, [personal profile] jero and I managed to buy each other identical presents - I'm not sure if this is a good or a bad sign...

Yeah, books were my big gain this year. It seems that everyone seems to have me tagged as pretentious and has bought me reading matter accordingly.

I tried to comment on your "does not compute" comment in my LJ, but I failed, so just read what I wrote to Marlowe1, under his comment, and you'll get the gist of what I wrote to you. Sorry!
