Okay, I've been busy

I realised the other day that I've not updated to ol' skivejournal for about three weeks, which may well be the longest hiatus since I had invasive surgery about ten years ago. In part, I suppose, that's because SJ isn't the medium it was some year ago. Back in 2006 I could post a string of crap jokes or something rude about John Prescott and be assured of a day of merry debate and argument, and a certain amount of cross-blog pollenation. Alas, SJ isn't what it was. The community has drifted away to media which demand less involvement and creativity like twitter and Facebook leaving just a remaining hardcore. I don't know about you, but it gets harder to summon up the motivation to maintain the blogging momentum.

The other reason I've been quiet is because I've been busy. The thing about LJ is that it's been a gigantic writing sponge. Turns out I'd probably be writing anyway and so I'd create some content, lob it up here, and get on with my life. As it is, I've spent a lot of this year writing Other Things^tm. By my own calculations I've churned out 120,000 words this year (well, it's that or talk to the she-David) which is the equivalent of a couple of hundred LJ posts, so the creative juices have gone elsewhere rather than here.

If those of you with friends with related hobbies would share that, I'd be jolly grateful.

As for the other, well, I hope to be able to say more in the new year. In the meantime, I'll be trying to update here again more often.
