Eastenders was broadcast in the US on Masterpiece theartre, of all things, and was hailed as a suberb and accurate social drama. o.O

No no, that doesn't qualify ... that is a direct import after all ... hardly the competition we envision. :-)

By your definition, the US of A's remodeling of 'The Weakest Link,' 'Who Wants to be A Millionaire,' and 'Junkyard Wars' can genuinely rival the originals, with or without imported hosts.

Nah, has to be clone competition I tell you. :-)
