My Weekend

Everyone seems to do these review thingies, and so I’ll do one too.
On Friday, it was ho for
andydavies ‘s barbeque & party-ish thing, which was nice. Spent most of the evening chatting to
robinbloke and
cbvampst about just RL stuff, work, etc. How nice to hang out with cammies and not talk about the monolith. They suggested this was because Cambs now has an indie game, which diverts a lot of the creative juices, and I think this was probably right.
Saturday morning was golf – the course was fairly empty, probably due to England giving Johnny foreigner a good thrashing on the footy pitch, and so we had it mostly to ourselves. I’ve never played golf before in my life but I put in a creditable performance and came second, but Andy came first by cheating (he’d played golf before, the swine). Then it was off to the pub to wait for the vamp game. I read some of Five Red Herrings, and drank some beer, and took the high-score on the Gunblade machine in the corner, and then various cammies arrived.
The game was nice. Much of it was spend chatting ICly with Moreton Drake and
faerierhona ‘s character about life & philosophy &c. Rhona became the first person to notice a fairly important detail about my Character (or at least, the first to point it out to me that they’d noticed it anyway), so it’s nice to feel that people at least take notice of what I do when I’m playing, anyway.
Then Islana (the Valentine of Set) and the Ventrue Primogen announced that they were in love and were going to get married. A vicar was rapidly conjured up, and the expression on her face when the vicar asked if anyone had any objections to the wedding and I stepped up was a joy to behold…
I must think of something amusing to do in reaction to the filthy trollop rejecting Sets’ loving advances :)
Post game we headed back to Robins & watched Moulin Rouge, a film that I haven’t much time for, really…it’s far Baz Luhrmanns weakest work, lacking either the joie de vivre of Simply Ballroom, or the creative flair & originality of Romeo & Juliet, and tries to hide the lack of anything new behind flashy visuals. Jim Broadbent is great though – and reminds me strongly of Iscariot, too.
Sunday I blew out ‘ling, partialy because I had a lot to do at home, and partially because I wasn’t feeling well. By the time I got home I was hot, sweating, shivering, and feeling feverish, and a cold shower later I was having an early bedtime. Monday I woke feeling just as rough, and so skived work yesterday. Today, the feverishness seems to have gone, but I still have a nagging headache and the muscles up my spine and behind my shoulder blades all ache in a big ‘T’ shape – very uncomfortable, and an odd sensation, too.
