Today has been my worst day at work for quite some time.

I made the mistakeof telling the people I work with to either email or ring me (I had my phone extended to operate in Greece and took it with me) if there were any problems whilst I was away.

Naturally, they didn't. They didn't try and solve the problems either, they just ignored them, or fluttered roundf waving their hands and wailing 'Oh, woe, whatever shall we do.'
As a result, several important clients are *very* pissed off, we've lost a lot of business, I won't get my bonus as a result, and so it looks like my planned trip to the ICC on the proceeds is off.

Let this be a lesson to me: NEVER GO ON HOLIDAY.

The Thanagarians are in revolt, the Kree and Skrull have kicked off on each other *again*, and Prince Voltan has tried to usurp me. Naturally, my shareholders aren't impressed and my Galatic Groat bonus has been cut.

I know the feeling in a far lesser way but it's only other translators screwing with my work and bringing my database out of order I'm concerned with, no financial disadvantages of any kind...

I get the same thing on this end as well. Anytime I go on vacation or take some time off, things I'm responsible for aren't carried out by my team mates and are left sitting waiting for me when I get back. Its frustrating whenever I get back and trudge through catching up... and I feel so burnt out that I need another vacation and the vicious cycle continues.

I'm fortunate to where what I work on usually doesn't touch any of our clients since what I do is an internal operations function. I'm really surprised that your supervisor, et all, allowed your clients to go without any support while you were out.
