I may well be the only person in the country still watching this steaming pile of televisual crap, but did anyone else see last night's episode? is it just me, or was that one of the most intellectually offensive pieces of rubbish ever to appear on prine time television?
Off the top of my head, the only thing I can think of worse was Heil Honey, I'm home!.

1:45 - no one builds a hypermarket in the middle of nowhere
2:30 - archaeologists don't just start randomly digging
5:40 - The correct procedure when finding a possible explosive device is not to get one of the archaeologists to wrap themselves in a tin can and poke it a bit
6:20 - zomg, a bunch of skeletons from WW1, time for a sombre wigout and comparison to historical genocides.
7:30 - NOOOOO!!! one of the skeletons looks a little bit funny and is slightly broken up!!! PANIC!!!
8:10 - their British cause they found traces of Marmite
8:45 - oooh, tension with the French archaeologist. Lets square off like we're in NYPD Blue
9:35 - "This is My Dig Site" fuck me, it is NYPD Blue
11:15 - gosh, i never knew war was a bad thing before. thanks for the enlightenment
12:05 - "its a botched cover up", time to throw in some light racism
14:00 - "This is my crime scene, you don't like it you take it up with the lieutenant" Least that's what everything other than the dialogue said
15:15 - "history is a big puzzle" and in 5 years time historians are going to be looking at this going 'why lord?'

right, can't take anymore. Off to do something more fun, think I've got some bleach to drink.

But you only watched the good bit - it gets so, so much worse as it goes on.
I actually hope that the scriptwriters find themselves in a pub with some drunk squaddies at some point, as they will recieve a much-deserved kicking.

It's by the same people who wrote Life on Mars, and presumably the BBC were hoping for another hit on the same magnitude.
