I think I've mentioned my time at university before now - I took one of those dossy social-science degrees which had five hours of lectures a week, and spent most of my time in the cheesy rock clubs and fleshpots of Manchester. The net result of this, I later realised, was that I undoubtedly spent more time playing air guitar at university than I did actually being educated. I remain pleased with this.

Anyway; it's a cold and depressing December day, so here's a question to remind you of the good times. What's your "wasted youth" story? What did you do when you were younger that, really, you could have spent the time doing something much more productive, but which you remain inordinately pleased about?*

*The Cam doesn't count. Nobody should be proud of that.

I buggered off to Japan for 3 weeks instead of revising for my second year exams... never regretted that! Learned more in those 3 weeks about humanity than in 3 years of BSc Biology ;)

Social sciences - no academic worth, but great for the old social life.

Watching huge numbers of utterly crappy 50p videos with some reprobate student - I think id submit you spent as much time doing this as you did on air guitar. Watching Jade Killer is alot less cool a misspent youth.

Yes, especially in the third year when I had to be up for lectures on Friday morning.

I had to be at work on Friday mornings, but still went to the all-nighter. Stop at my crib for a shower and breakfast, then straight to the plant.

I dropped further maths A level, weeks before the exam, to do an art project instead of revision and make hours of painted procrastination into an A level instead.

... that's actually pretty weak. I don't think I've wasted enough of my youth! :) Or rather I don't see much of my time as wasted, as learning the guitar instead of working ... Not doing supervision work but having a life instead and passing anyway.... well maybe they count.... Not time wasted though :)

I spent a great deal of time playing risqué, improvised songs to rooms/pubs/clubs full of similarly drunken women.

I regret nothing.

I spent an entire unemployed winter doing nothing much except to draw dole, play roleplaying games and occasionally smoke dope. I didn't see daylight for six months, due to going to bed at dawn and getting up at or after sunset. A shocking waste of tax payer's money, except that I was *seriously* depressed and going nowhere at the beginning of that winter, and more or less sorted out and working in a brand new career[1] as a lab tech soon after.

[1] Well, it would have been if I hadn't ended up with a disabling chronic illness, but them's the breaks.

That's in about 4 hours of game-time, right?

Failed out of Uni on my first try.

Why? Instead of sleeping, I played Axis & Allies 5 nights a week, to completion, starting no earlier than 8PM.

Unfortunately, I'm still pants at A&A.

Worked on my 6 pint/day no-downside limit.

I have been otherwise productive.
