At the height of the cold war, a Russian General and an American General started talking about their military preparedness.
"In Russia", said the Russian, "We feed our soldiers well. Every man has a minimum of two and a half thousand calories a day!"
"Hell", said the Amreican. "That's nothin'. In the US Army we feed our men three thousands calories a day!"
"Impossible!", cried the Russian. "No man could eat so many potatos!"

Well, since my post the other day I've recieved a positive flurry of emails from Russia offering me girls who want to marry me. They're all to me at work, by name and mention stuff that could only have come of my company website. They've all got different, charmingly illiterate letters of introduction and they're all from different email addresses. If I were a more gullible man, I'd think that I had hit a rich seam of women eager for some hot David wallet lovin'.
However, there's something about these girls that leads me to suspect that there might be something else going on here. There's some vague similarity which suggests to me that not all is as it seems. Can you spot what I mean?

This Siberian Sexpot is Malenkaya

This Leningrad Lovely is Irena

Whilst this Muscovite Messalina is Svetlana

Now it strikes me that there are three possible reasons for this uncanny similarity: first, that the Russias are still living in the aftermath of some appalling Stalin-era cloning experiment. Second, that the Russian population is being replaced by aliens in a Midwitch Cuckoos sort of way and this is their attempt to spread their alien tendrils across the Earth.
Thirdly, my favourite theory, is that I've scored with identical triplets. Get in!

It is a common male fantasy to get it on with two or even three identical women, but I have to say that I'm not entirely convinced by this opportunity. The thought of making out with three people whose idea of foreplay is to whisper sweet nothings about the Five-Year Plan and the success of the Beet harvest doesn't fill me with glee - it'd be like some unholy Menage a quatre with [livejournal.com profile] inskauldrak, [livejournal.com profile] jonnyargles and [livejournal.com profile] lapinenoire.
Or possibly [livejournal.com profile] snapesbabe, which would at least have its consolations.

So in the light of that, a question:

My local MP is pretty good for straight answers. If she wasn't Labour I probably would vote for her - if she was Independent, for ex.

Now that's odd. If you would vote for her, why does it matter her party? I should have pegged you for some one who would vote for the person and his/her policies regardless of party.

Just wondering. Perhaps it's the proportional representation thing you have going over there?

We don't have PR here (sadly). You know how in the US you have elections for the house of reps, and then you have elections for the pres, and they're separate? You have a proper separation of powers between the executive and the legislature? Well we have one election, and who ever is the leader of the party that wins gets to be the Prime Minister, so if I had have voted for Chris, it would also have been a vote for Blair.

OK. That's sort of what I was thinking with the PR comment. My allergy addled brain has made me incoherent lately. The party that gets the most representation in the lege has their person as PM. So, did you vote for a person who didn't represent your thinking? Or is that a rude question? (sorry for the spam, Dave.)

I voted Lib Dem. I don't know the name of the candidate LOL but I knew he wasn't going to win. It was a protest vote, really. Although to be fair, all those "who should I vote for?" internet tests said I should vote Lib Dem anyway, apart from the one that said green, with Lib Dems in second.

If the options remain the same at the next election (Tory, Labour, Lib Dem, BNP) I might spoil my ballot, because I'm not going to vote Lib Dem while Ming the Right Wing is the leader... I refuse to not vote because then they will assume it's voter apathy.

LJ is a playground - a place where people talk about all kinds of stuff. I don't object to people talking, because it gives me stuff to read.

Let's face it; it's a better use of the medium than the usual "omg im depressed and mi life sux and only my cat likes me an mom bitches at me" posts which fill so much of the blogosphere.

Hah! You DO read comments that are made in your journal by people other than you, ergo you DID know that I didn't vote Labour and you chose to forget

:P

I didn't choose to forget; my brain automatically edits out those facts which don't fit my world view - a skill taught to me by the lefties of my acquiantance :p

And one that you've learned as well as Labour learned to make Tory policies ;P

I'm oddly flattered that you don't think I'm very good at it.
